Servers, Networks and Desserts

just dessertsIt has been pretty hectic over the last couple of weeks here at ComTech HQ. From Cyber Essentials audits to server installs to network redesigns, we have been kept very busy and at times been run ragged but the team has pulled together and we have got through.

So, what exactly have we been up to then?

Well, all the usual issues with Microsoft Office, Sage, printers, emails, Quickbooks, broadband, backups, Windows 10 updates, and so forth have been keeping us on our toes but we also installed a new Windows Server 2016 server for a client.

The big thing for us though has been redesigning a Linux network to use a different address space which has been more of a challenge than it should be. Things got worse when two servers updated themselves and broke legacy packages meaning we had to rebuild them from backups -- oh the joys!

It’s not been all doom and gloom, though, as we have also moved into our new bigger office, which gives us space for a 4th person when the finances allow it. End of the year is our target for this and hopefully we will get a bum on that extra seat.

Two new clients have seen the light in the last couple of weeks and decided to come on board with monthly IT Support contracts. And we’ve had the usual plethora of ad hoc work on top.

Finally, there are the legendary ComTech meetings. Yes, we work hard at ComTech but we also find time for some fun and part of that is the dessert challenge. If you want a job working with us, you must be able to eat at least one big dessert during staff meetings. Chris currently holds the record with 4!

Don’t work too hard, people.
